The goal of this program is to create a nurturing and safe environment for infants starting their educational journey. Teachers will work with each child to help through the adjustment period during gradual entry by creating a safe and supportive environment and allowing children to decide what their daily schedule is going to look like for this time, slowly transitioning the child to our regular schedule, routines, and activities. We believe, at this stage, the most important element of building the foundation for success is building a secure attachment with caregivers, self-regulation, and healthy peer interactions.
Children entering this program for the first time will have a chance to observe and adjust to the new environment and new people around them. Teachers will provide a safe and supportive environment to build relationships with the child and will gently encourage the child to participate in our daily activities and routines while building on the child’s strengths, interests, and abilities. The main goal of this program is to teach children basic skills of self-care and independence, while providing them with a variety of toys, activities, and opportunities to practice these skills.
Most children enrolled in this program are the once that had previously been enrolled and transitioned from our TODLEROOS program. They already know the structure of the program, routing and are self-independent. It makes it easier for new children entering this program to merge by following the group of peers, while still being given an opportunity to observe, try things out and get involved in the process with positive reinforcement and guidance of teachers and peers. While the goal of this program is to build a strong foundation for children’s further education and success, the main focus of this program stays on building safe and supportive environment for peer interactions through effective communication, negotiation, facilitation, self-regulation and emotional intelligence.
Regardless of how we define success, one remains constant is the need for a strong foundation. A strong foundation can be defined as the set of underlying principles, values, and habits that guide our decisions, actions, and behaviors. It is the solid framowork we build in our lives, caroors, and relationships.
