7:00 AM – Open the Room
7:30 AM – Arrival of Children
• Greet children and engage with parents: ask if the child has eaten, how their morning was, if they slept well, etc.
• Record attendance and ensure each child is signed in.
• Note any concerns or information from parents in the logbook.
• If you notice any bruises, scratches, or other marks on a child, ask the parent about it. Record your observations and the parent’s response in the logbook.
8:00 AM – Breakfast Routine
• Wash tables/highchairs with soapy water, then wipe with bleach solution.
• Assist children with bathroom needs and hand washing.
• Serve breakfast. Encourage toddlers to open their own containers and wrappers, and use polite words (“please,” “thank you,” etc.). Teach infants simple words and name food items.
• After eating, encourage toddlers to:
– Put utensils in the sink
– Dispose of trash
– Return containers to their lunch bags and close them
• Assist with hand washing after breakfast.
• Clean tables and highchairs with soapy water and bleach.
• Wash highchair trays in the kitchen and clean the fabric thoroughly.
No breakfast is to be served after 8:30 AM.
8:30–9:15 AM – Transition & Activity Time
• Second and third staff members arrive:
– Read the logbook and write a reply if needed.
– Third teacher sets up the Infant Toddler nap room.
• First teacher leads planned art activity (groups of four).
• Second teacher engages children at the play dough/tabletop activities.
• All staff must scan the room at all times.
• Begin diaper changes and record them on the chart.
9:15–9:45 AM
Infants:
• First nap (no bottles or food allowed in the nap room).
• Change/check diapers before nap. Ensure children are always within sight or sound.
Toddler Group:
• Circle time or music class (Mondays) or other scheduled enrichment activities.
9:45–10:00 AM – Bathroom Routine
• Diaper changes and bathroom support for potty training.
• Assist with handwashing.
10:00 AM – Outdoor Preparation
Infants:
• Dress according to parents’ instructions or items in cubbies.
• Ensure pants are pulled over boots, hats stay on, and boots are secure.
Toddlers:
• Line up, do a headcount, and proceed to the cubbies.
• Dress for weather (muddy buddies, jackets, hats, etc.).
• Use games like “Choo-Choo Train” to maintain focus while waiting.
• Bring a towel to dry play structures (fall/winter). In summer, bring sunscreen and water bottles.
• Apply sunscreen outside only to avoid staining floors and carpets.
11:30 AM – Return to the Room & Lunch Setup
Toddlers:
• Second or third teacher sets up for lunch:
Infants:
• Prepare highchairs with soapy water and bleach solution.
• Heat and set out food.
11:30 AM – Transition to Lunch
• Re-enter as per morning routine (line up, headcount, bathroom support).
• Diaper changes and hand washing.
• Assist with lunch setup and seating.
• Sing a song and collect name tags before eating.
• Staff should sit and eat with children, encouraging social interaction and self-help.
• Promote use of manners and vocabulary with all age groups.
12:15–12:45 PM – Lunch Wrap-Up & Story Time Prep
• One staff member mops nap areas.
• First teacher sets up story time area after cleaning.
• Second teacher assists remaining children and supports bathroom routine.
Note: Volunteers/students cannot assist in the bathroom. ECE Assistants must be supervised.
• As children finish, they transition to story time.
12:55 PM – Nap Time
• First teacher supervises children settling for nap.
• Second teacher assists as needed.
• Other staff begin cleaning:
– Tables, counters, garbage lids
– Bathrooms (staff and children’s)
• Record nap times.
• Mop classroom floors.
• Clean kitchen area, including garbage lids.
1:30 PM – Planning & Cleaning
• Lead teachers use this time for planning and prep.
• Available staff clean and dust toys in scheduled areas.
• Infants take second nap. Change/check diapers before.
2:30 PM – Wake-Up Routine
• Children begin waking up.
• Diaper/bathroom routine and charting.
• Support potty-training children promptly.
• Provide quiet fine-motor activities (coloring, worksheets).
• Record wake-up times.
3:00 PM – Group Time
• Group physical games (e.g., “Duck Duck Goose,” “Punchinello,” “Ring-around-the-Rosy”).
• Continue to offer free play, but staff should facilitate weekly planned developmental activities.
• Encourage cleanup before moving to a new activity.
• On Fridays, collect bedding to send home.
• Prepare for snack. Give a 5-minute warning by 3:10.
3:15 PM – Snack Time
• Wash hands.
• Snack is served.
• Clean up after snack and wash hands again.
3:30 PM – Afternoon Routine
• Line up and do headcount.
• Dress infants and toddlers for outdoor play (or engage in indoor activities if staying in).
• Activities may include free play, stories, or sensory play.
4:30 PM – Return Indoors
• One staff member may leave.
• Closing staff handles diaper changes.
• Staff leaving at 5:00 PM vacuums carpets:
– Both rooms if rooms are merged.
– Only your room if not.
– Room 1 teacher vacuums entrance carpet as well.
• Begin dismissal.
• Maintain open communication with parents and update sign-out.
• Share upcoming events and record concerns if needed.
• Continue attendance tracking.
5:00 PM – End-of-Day Cleaning
• Ensure no dirty dishes are left.
• Start the dishwasher.
• Load laundry (including dress-up clothes as needed), but do not start it.
• Put away toys.
• Set up the room and activity tables for the next day.
5:15–6:00 PM – Final Wrap-Up
• Merge with IT room (max. 8 children total; only 3 under 3 years old, 1 under 12 months).
• Start the laundry.
• Take out all garbage from rooms and bathrooms.
• Lock the facility
